The Dallas Wings New Era: Sellouts, Swagger, & A New Start
Chris Koclanes grinned like a guy who knows what he’s building.
“Dallas is the place to be,” Koclanes said after practice this week.
If you’ve been anywhere near College Park Center lately, you too would believe him. This season for the second straight game, preseason or not, the Dallas Wings have sold out their home court. That’s not just momentum. That’s movement.
That’s a team that’s building, and continuing to build towards a successful future.
On Friday night, the Dallas Wings will tip off the 2025 regular season against the Minnesota Lynx in front of a capacity crowd. The bleachers will be packed, the music will be loud, and the hardwood will hum with a sense of promise. The College Park Center will not only be raucous because it’s opening night, but because Paige Bueckers is real, and she’s here.
The Wings will now have a team that is built to compete now.
The Paige Effect Is Already Tangible
One can feel it in the ticket sales.
One can see it in the waitlist. It’s definitely felt it in the line of fans at the team store trying to grab a No. 5 Paige Bueckers jersey before they sell out again.
For the first time in franchise history, the Dallas Wings have sold out of season tickets — and they did it before the preseason even tipped off.
What’s bananas is that it’s not just the June 27 game against Indiana and Dallas have already pushed individual ticket prices as high as $1,000 on resale markets. This is bigger than one game, it’s also bigger than one player.
Overall ticket revenue for the Wings is up 220%. Individual ticket sales revenue has exploded by more than 1,200%. Fans aren’t just showing up for the spectacle, they are buying into the future.
Paige Bueckers hasn’t played a regular-season minute yet, but she’s already shifted the gravitational pull of this franchise. Bueckers is not only a walking highlight reel but she is also given this young, hungry Wings team a center of gravity. Bueckers is someone who moves differently, sees differently, and lifts everyone around her without saying much at all.
You can’t buy that kind of presence and you sure can’t fake it.
A Sellout Crowd, a Statement Game
It’s no accident the opener sold out.
Dallas fans are plugged in and they understand what’s ahead of their future.
They know the W. They know Sylvia Fowles isn’t walking through that door in Minnesota, but Napheesa Collier is. They know the Lynx play with discipline, poise, and size. But they also know the Wings can counter the Lynx punch with pace, and spacing.
Friday night is a chance to set the tone not just for the season, but for the new era.
“Dallas is the place to be” isn’t just a quote. It’s a challenge.
Friday is the beginning. But if you’re paying attention, you know this story’s already started.
It started when Curt bet on youth, and bringing in players in the primes of their careers.
It started when Koclanes called his shot.
It started the second Paige picked up a Wings jersey and the city leaned in.
And now? The seats are full. The floor is theirs.
Let’s see what they do with it.
