The WNBA All-Star Draft Is About to Get Petty!

Spread the love

The WNBA All-Star Draft is almost underway and now that we have the pool of the starters, let’s have a little fun!

Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier will be taking turns picking squads like it was a pick-up game with national pride on the line. If anyone thought this was just about stats, think again — this is about vibes, beef, loyalty, and lowkey recruiting all rolled into one.

Two different strategies. Same goal: embarrass the other team on national TV.

Let’s break down future potential picks, the snubs, and who’s secretly mad they went eighth.

Caitlin Clark’s Picks:

1st pick (1st overall): A’ja Wilson
Why: There should be no world in which A’ja does not go No. 1. She’s still the best player in the world. Wilson’s still the entire package — MVP trophies, rim protection, and a body that says, “Try me.” You don’t pass on the 3-time MVP unless you want to lose. She’s the rock, the anchor, the “I got this” vibe on steroids.

2nd pick (3rd overall): Aliyah Boston
Why: Aliyah Boston is Clark’s partner in crime. The pick and roll combo between the two if one of the most lethal attacks in the WNBA. Boston is a beast inside — rebounds like a monster and protects the paint like a boss. You want defense? She’s your girl. Young, hungry, and already showing she’s a game-changer. Pairing her with Wilson in the front court would be amazing in theory, and even better in reality.

3rd pick (5th overall): Paige Bueckers
Why: Rookie? Please. Paige is out here looking like she’s been in the league for five years. Handles? Check. Cold-blooded scoring? Double check. She’s the hype train you want to jump on before it leaves the station. Bueckers arguably is one of the two way guards in the WNBA and her first all-star appearance should be special.

4th pick (7th overall): Satou Sabally
Why: The Unicorn can do it all — hit threes, guard multiple positions, and basically confuse defenders. Sabally is that Swiss Army knife every team wants but few get. When healthy she’s arguably a top 5 player in the WNBA. Sabally’s versatility with swag.

Napheesa Collier’s Picks:

1st pick (2nd overall): Breanna Stewart
Why: The name Breanna Stewart is synonymous with winning. You want to win a basketball game? Get a winner. Four rings, Finals MVPs, ice in her veins. Stewart’s the one who shows up when the lights are the brightest. She’s the heart and muscle of any team she’s on.

2nd pick (4th overall): Sabrina Ionescu

Why: If you draft Stewart No. 1, why not pair her with her New York Liberty teammate in Sabrina Ionescu. These two have chemistry baked in. Ionescu shoots like she’s got a cheat code and runs the offense like a boss. Phee needs a point guard and why not have one of the best in the game running the show with a team she’s familiar with. Instant squad goals.

3rd pick (6th overall): Allisha Gray
Why:  This is the most underrated player in the WNBA. Allisha Gray is playing like a 1st-Team All-WNBA player. Pairing Gray’s shooting prowess with Sabrina would create a lethal backcourt. This woman’s defense is straight-up savage, and she can knock down the trey too. Perfect 3-and-D combo to lock down guards and wings while keeping the offense ticking. Defense wins games, Gray wins fights.

4th pick (8th overall): Nneka Ogwumike

Why: The OG veteran who plays smart and plays hard. She doesn’t just score or rebound — she controls the pace and calms the chaos. Basically the WNBA’s version of that steady friend who always has your back.

Don’t Take it Personal!

This All-Star Game is gonna feel personal.

No midseason friendly exhibition here — Clark’s got the walking bucket brigade, and Collier pulled together a roster that might actually eat glass if it meant getting a stop.

There’s chemistry. There’s tension. There’s Paige Bueckers somehow looking like a 10-year vet. And there’s Nneka, still out here reading people’s souls on defense.

When this tips off, it won’t just be about fun. It’ll be about who drafts better, who talks louder, and who gets clowned on TikTok after someone drops 30 on their head.

See you at midcourt. Bring popcorn. And receipts.
