A Visionary Leader Joins the Wings
The Dallas Wings are making bold moves to strengthen their position in women’s basketball. Today, the team welcomed Lauryn Turner as the new Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO). Turner brings over 25 years of experience in sports management. Her proven track record will help propel the Wings forward. She begins her new role later this month and will report directly to CEO and Managing Partner Greg Bibb.
“Lauryn’s expertise in strategic planning, revenue generation, and operational excellence makes her the perfect fit for the Wings,” said Bibb. “Her leadership will be essential as we transition to Dallas, open a new practice facility, and renovate the Dallas Memorial Coliseum.”
Turner’s Proven Track Record
Turner’s career showcases her ability to lead in high-pressure environments. She previously served as COO of USA Gymnastics, where she modernized operations. Her leadership resulted in record-breaking revenue and operational improvements. Additionally, Turner helped expand sponsorship opportunities, which contributed to the organization’s success.
Turner’s skillset was also evident during the 2024 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials. She played a key role in organizing the event, which drew over 200,000 visitors and generated $75 million in economic impact. This achievement set new standards in the industry and demonstrated her leadership on a national stage.
Turner’s Excitement for the Role
Turner expressed her enthusiasm for joining the Wings:
“I am excited to be joining the Dallas Wings as their COO,” she said. “It’s a thrilling time for the organization, especially with the growing recognition of the WNBA and the momentum behind the Wings. I’m passionate about empowering women through sports, and I can’t wait to contribute to the Wings’ success.”
Strong Leadership and Expansion Plans
Before her time at USA Gymnastics, Turner spent 20 years at Varsity Brands. During that time, she played a crucial role in executing a five-year, $1 billion growth strategy. Turner’s leadership helped expand event portfolios and significantly boost revenue.
The Dallas Wings’ Future
As the Wings prepare for their 10th season in North Texas, Turner’s skills in strategy and fan engagement will be invaluable. Her leadership will help the team grow and reach new heights. With her at the helm, the Wings are well-positioned to strengthen their brand and continue thriving in the WNBA.
