Wings Clipped: Dallas Stumbles as Mystics Fly High in Record-Setting Rout

The Dallas Wings suffered a disheartening 97-69 defeat against the Washington Mystics at the Entertainment & Sports Arena, marking their first time this season conceding over 100 points in a game. Despite a challenging season that sees them with a 3-12 record, there’s a focus on improvements and ending their losing streak.

Coach Latricia Trammell stressed the importance of game film analysis to correct their defensive issues. “It always goes back to the film. The film doesn’t lie,” she asserted, underscoring the need for thorough review to better their performance.

The Wings struggled defensively, allowing the Mystics to hit 11 three-pointers and shoot almost 40% from the three-point line. Veteran forward Natasha Howard, playing her second game after returning, stood out with 19 points, six rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block.

“She has been here and done that. She has won a championship and she knows what it looks like. She knows what teams need to do to get to that point. I am extremely proud of her,” Trammell praised Howard’s impact and leadership.

Rookie point guard Jacy Sheldon also shone in her first start, making four three-pointers and contributing five assists. “Just contributing in any way I can to help this team. Being able to go out there and play with these girls has been a good experience. Now, it’s about finding ways to win,” Sheldon shared about her role and adjustments.

Trammell further commended Sheldon’s adaptability and team spirit: “She’s coachable and always wanting to do what’s best for this team and this organization.”

As the Wings aim to pivot their season towards more positive results, the focus remains on teamwork, enhancing individual performances, and transforming the season into one of constructive development.
